More than 120 bike racks will be installed in Des Plaines this year, from the downtown area to local schools and parks.
The racks, purchased with a Cook County Model Communities Grant, are geared toward encouraging healthy lifestyles and reducing obesity in Des Plaines. They will be installed in parts of downtown, around the Metra station on both sides of the tracks and in the Oakton Street commercial district, said Derek Peebles, city engineer.
