L.A.T.E Ride @ Buckingham Fountain
L.A.T.E Ride @ Buckingham Fountain, Saturday Night/Sunday Morn June 30, July 1
Every year, thousands of cyclists get together at Buckingham Fountain for a 25 mile ride through Chicago’s many beautiful neighborhoods. In years past, traffic is stopped along the route so you don’t have to worry too much about battling taxis and buses while you pedal through town. The route is somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 miles with optional rest stops along the way where you can hang with your fellow riders and recharge with food and/or drink. The event benefits Friends of the Parks and it begins late on Saturday night and runs into the early morning hours of Sunday. Pull an all-nighter!

Bike Count
Volunteers needed for downtown Chicago bike count June 26 & 30
Help document the demand for more bikeways in Chicago! The Chicago Department of Transportation's Bicycle Program is recruiting volunteers to help out with the June 2012 Downtown Bike Count during one or more of the following times:
•Tue., June 26, 7a.m. – 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
•Sat., June 30, noon – 2 p.m.
Approximately 25 volunteers are needed for each of the three time slots.
Volunteers help record changes in seasonal ridership, document the need for bicycle infrastructure and help advance Chicago’s commitment to be the most bicycle friendly city in America.
In March 2012, volunteers recorded more than 4,100 bicyclists at 24 locations entering and exiting the central business district during the morning and afternoon peak hours.
To volunteer or to learn more, please contact: Dave Smith, CDOT Bikeways Planner, at david.smith@cityofchicago.org or 312.742.7620.
